A lost Democracy

My views are bound to meet critisism from many circles but I believe it does not matter to conceal the truth when the fact will hurt youn in the immediate future.

The Zimbabwean opposition has lost the battle to Zanu PF and the message is clear on the wall that Mugabe is in charge. Mugabe trashed the power sharing agreement on day one by appointing more ministers than the two opposition parties combined despite the fact that Zanu Pf and Robert himself lost the general elections.

Thanks to SACD for failure to call a spade a spade, Mugabe is a tyrant and very few leaders in Africa can tell him that in his face.

To Tsvangirai I say you have betrayed the trust that people had in you because you are not patient and can not wait any longer to take the high office. But the sad thing is that Tsvangirai settles for number two when he won the race. This reminds me of the bullies at school when i had to limit my potential in sport to avoid conflict with the big boys who could not stand being beaten by a young boy.

We now need a new struggle in Zimbabwe, may be the NCA should transform into a new opposition because MDC is dead.

SADC No Solution to Zimbabwe Problem

Some SADC leaders operate like a gangster and will not give solutions to the Zimbabwe situation. The fact is that some African leaders are so afraid of democracy that they cannot afford it a chance to exist.

Some people think Zimbabweans are so docile and will never rise against an African regime that is terrorizing them and displacing people in masses. I think Zimbabweans have grown up to realize that war is not the only solution to this catastrophe. The next question then is how come the people of Zimbabwe managed to free themselves from white colonial rule and are now in a situation worse than they were 29 years ago and cannot free themselves again?

The answer to the above question is found in what I call collective effort from not only the people of Zimbabwe but the neighbors also. The war against colonial rule was won because countries like Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Botswana  etc made great efforts to squeeze the colonialists and isolate Rhodesia regionally, this led to the Ian Smith regime failing.

The effort of neighboring countries is very important in correcting a humanitarian crisis. Even in our social lives we need good neighbors to live peacefully with our families.

In my entire life I’d never heard of a country that closed a hospital but thanks to Zanu PF I’ve witnessed it. Things that are happening in Zimbabwe are horrible and very soon it is going to be worse than what is happening in a war zone.

The situation in Zimbabwe could have been resolved after the March 2008 election in which Zanu Pf lost to the MDC- T in all elections. Zimbabweans will remember Mr. Thabo Mbeki as a man who spoiled their future by telling the world that there was no crisis in Zimbabwe. Mr. Mbeki has always been a careless and biased man when it comes to the Zimbabwe situation. I correctly predicted that this man would leave office before the end of his term and surely he did. It puzzles me then why SADC puts trusts in such a man who was rejected by his own party and country to lead South Africa. Mr. Mbeki has failed and there is need for him to be relieved of his duties as a mediator.

When the Rule of Nature Takes Control

Embracing Communist ideas in a modern world is one challenge that needs total madness to survive. When a tyrant government is faced with numerous failures on the tables and its bag of short term solutions is empty, the masses can expect to hear anything.

The above situation depicts the Zimbabwean situation in which Zanu Pf has run out of ideas and solutions. Blaming to Western countries for the cholera epidemic that is currently ravaging the poor people of Zimbabwe is one shocker that the geriatric gerrymanders in Harare have pulled.

To those who left Zimbabwe long ago they will remember that this type of propaganda is not so new in Zimbabwe. During elections some people in rural areas were misinformed by Zanu Pf that Morgan Tsvangirai is a white man with a Shona name trying to take back the country. Another propaganda claim that Zanu Pf also made was during the 2002 drought. America and Britain were blamed for the drought as the two nations were said to have directed rainfall away from Zimbabwe.

When a dictatorship is about to fall, it is first overwhelmed by catastrophes which rapidly deplete its limited and stretched resources, failure to cope with this leads to blaming external factors. It is followed by dissatisfaction within the echelons of the repressive system. This in essence is an unstoppable cocktail of an uprising that sweeps the dictatorship from power.

In studying dictatorship and tyranny I have realized some common trends exhibited by all dictators who have ever lived and fallen down, Hitler, Kamuzu Banda, Milosevic, Idi Amin, etc, in their ruling years, dictators, all think they will rein forever. They never see the wave of change until it is on their door step.

Dictators never seem to get the truth on the ground, they believe in what they want to happen and so people tend to exaggerate facts and tell the dictator what he wants to hear. In most cases no sane person would want to raise the fury of a tyrant by telling him bad news. Dictators live in an isolated world from the people the rule. In most cases they rule a vast poor people who rely on the dictator to provide food, while on the other hand the dictator lives a plush life and cares little about the people. Little I say because he only needs the people to justify his power and monopoly over the resources of the entire nation.

SADC Afraid of Mugabe

12/04/2008

An Open Letter to President Thabo Mbeki

Dear Mr President,

We Zimbabweans who are living outside Zimbabwe because of the atrocities being committed by the man you so much want to protect (Robert Mugabe) really feel you are letting the whole of Africa down.

It is time you put your friendship aside with the Old Man and start to tell the whole world the truth. Zimbabweans are tired of your efforts to make us suffer more and remain under the grip of this dictator. On several occasions you mislead the world.

Right now there is a crisis in Zimbabwe and you chose to take the issue casually by telling the whole world that the situation is manageable. It really does not make sense for the rest of the world, except you that ZEC cannot release the presidential results more than 2 weeks after the voting process.

The truth of the matter is that Robert Mugabe is denying the majority of Zimbabweans their right to choice and information which South Africans are enjoying in your country. We urge you to rise above friendship and your so called quiet diplomacy and realise that Mugabe is now the SADC's major risk.

There is no need for you to be afraid of Mugabe, he is an old man and the world will not condemn you for saying the truth that the old man should respect democracy and allow it to operate in Zimbabwe. Tony Blair, John Howard, Gordon Brown, President Bush and many other world leaders have said their concerns about Mugabe.

President Mbeki we beg you to keep quiet if you are afraid of offending the old man (It is quiet Diplomacy in the right way). Right now your comments have given Mugabe a new zeal and vigour to massacre more in-order to remain in power.

Because of your actions the world is starting to have a different view of the SADC region, you are generally promoting dictatorship by condoning a regime that butchers its own people. The Zimbabwe situation has already started affecting the Region's economies and  We as Zimbabweans  now feel that you find great pleasure in our continued suffering aswe are displaced from our families looking for jobs and food.

What goes around comes around and very soon it is going to bite South Africa as you have startd to feel the cracks of your system through Load shedding.

President Mbeki, have you ever spent a week without food and see inocent children die of hunger and HIV/AIDS? I guess you have never experienced it closely, this is the normal life of a Zimbabwean whose home land you say has no crisis. What level do you call a crisis when people are dying like flies on a daily basis.

Our hearts bleed for our bloved country as we toil and are exploited to develop other people's lands. God help us find peace.

God will surely judge you for all that you are doing to deny us the innocent souls of Zimbabwe.

Yours

Vana Vevhu (Children of the Soil)

Zimbabwe Election Statistics

Just a little one. With 8,998 polling stations and a voting rate of 5 min/voter, this translates to 107, 796 voters per hour per booth per polling station.

Assuming that each polling station has 5 booths. It means 539,880 will vote across Zimbabwe in just one hour.
If the polling stations are to open for 10 hours then a total of 5,539,880 voters will cast their votes today if all goes well. This constitutes 93.35% of the registered voters.

From the above analysis it is possible to vote in one day.

The population of Zim is made up of the following;

FACTS

  1. Zimbabwe has a total of 5,934,768 registered voters from a population estimated at over 13 million.
  2. 15-64 years: 59.3% (male 3,663,108/female 3,641,519) Meaning approximately 54.5% of the Zimbawean population makes the effective political decision.
  3. Those in the age 50 and above make only 15% of the entire population (these are Zanu people in most cases).
  4. This leaves 85% of registered voters being the young effective generation badly hit by inflation and unemployment.

Analysis:

Zanu Pf will have to use other means to rig this elections because the numbers are not on their side this time. The election is complex in that it is a 4 in 1 event and kind of difficult to manage.

Overal Prediction

  1. Presindetial

        Zanu PF              36.8%

          MDC                     51.8%

          Makoni               10.2%

          Independent      0.57%

          Spoilled                0.63

House of Assembly and Senotorial

Zanu Pf may have seats close to 50% due to gerrimendering but the politics of numbers will ultimately make the decision.

If the above scenario shifts a bit such that there is a run off, a tactic that Zanu Pf would want to employ on the pretext that they will gain Mkaoni's votes, MDC would still win as Makoni's voters would rather vote for the opposition.

Matebeleland holds the key to tis election and Zanu Pf has little support there.

Zoe's Ark

After the Libyan drama during Sarkosy's first days in office, Africa should have learnt a very good lesson on racism.

Now that Chad has done the same mistake, it is not surprising that the French child traffickers will be released as soon as they get into France just like the Bulgarian medical staff were released soon after arriving in Sofia.

The above cases involve children and the big brother UNICEF is mum alike usual because it involves the African Child.

Let the Kangaman Rule!

"If the intellectuals don't take the lead morons will rule this world" Like I predicted before the worst has happened.

Because many intellectuals in Africa are not so concerned with politics, they end up at the mercy of school dropouts. A simple look at the ANC top executive shows that most of those with decision-making posts do not have college degrees. This in itself is a cocktail for disaster for such a big economy. South Africa is a complex economy that needs a complex leadership.

If someone has ever betrayed South Africans, it is Thabo Mbeki a man who wanted to steal power from the masses through manipulation. As Africans we have learnt a lesson from this event that no one is above the power of the people. Thabo Mbeki cornered South Africans by strategically positioning himself for reelection and fortunately he lost.

Mbeki is so calculating but this time he met his challenge and ended up embarrassed. The plan was hidden and the ANC members saw the plot way before the Polokwane Congress. By insisting that he (Mbeki) should run for the presidency of the party, he had positioned himself in power by creating a crisis and making an assumption that people would vote for him instead of Jacob Zuma (the Kangaman) since Zuma’s image was already tarnished (allegedly by the Mbeki administration). But one important thing prevailed, that people would not bend rules to suit a selfish individual.

Mbeki betrayed South Africans by not affording them a broader array of candidates to choose from and he has done damage to South Africa. It is a fact that not all people who voted for Zuma really wanted him to be the president of the ANC, where one is faced with two bad choices, you can select a better one out of the bad. They did not want a dictatorship to be bred from ANC circles. The traits of dictatorship start from the mere fact of failing to accept that others can equally lead any organization.

This is not the first time that African leaders have tried to manipulate people, it happened in Zambia and Namibia but it surprises me why these leaders do not learn from their neighbors. The error of dictatorship is fast going to an end and leaders should just understand that they can not rule forever.

I am happy for South Africans that they have such an efficient democratic system that begins from grassroots (political parties) to the entire government, otherwise the whole process would have been a circus like what the SADC region recently saw a week before the ANC Congress in one African country that claims to be a pillar of democracy.

Mbeki should now do the humble thing of resigning before his term ends because it is clear that the majority of people within the ANC do not agree with his ideas and they want him to go. This is the reason they did not vote for him and moreover those who voted for him are starting to align themselves to the new leader Jacob Zuma to secure their political future. As such being president of South Africa is now the hardest task for Mbeki.

While it is constitutionally right for a leader to finish his/her term there is need to have the Nation at heart and avoid petty wars and confusions within the government ranks. In my opinion no wise politician would want to align himself or herself with a losing comrade and as such there is likely going to be a lot of insubordination and the worst can be expected. It is possible that the house of Assembly can give a vote of no confidence to force Mbeki out before2009.

From Mbeki’s recent writings, it is clear that he has a bitter pill to swallow and would like to see the fall of Kangaman before 2009. mbeki would like to use all the tools at his disposal as the president to fix the Kangaman.

The above scenario in another sense is good in that it prepares the new leader to deal with major events coming in 2010 and after.

Let the Kangaman rule and I bet the good ladies of South Africa will get the good life for a price. The Kangaman has a high libido that cannot be satisfied by one woman. The Sa tax payer will have to foot the extra bill of extending the State House to cater for the extra madams and mistresses.

Prepare to welcome the first clan into the neighborhood.

Who will Rule the masses?

"If the intellectuals don't take the lead morons will rule this world"

This is the typical African and developing world setup where the least expected end up ruling and messing things for the rich. There is need to bar some elements from taking up the lead to protect the economies at large.

African Leaders are just the same

The liberation struggle African leaders are doing more harm to Africa than the good that those who died during the struggle fought for. One noble thing would be to resign. Most of these leaders are fooling the populace telling them that the West wants to recolonise Africa.

I personally feel that there is no sane leader in the West who would come and colonise a nation in Africa in this 21st century. It's a barbaric chapter of history that was long closed. The last remnants of colonialism in South Africa were sustained by self centred Boers who did not even have the blessing of the Western states. Even Smith's  regime (Rhodesia) was not supported by Britain and yet we find in this civilised era, African leaders who still talk about colonialism.

This brings an interesting point on obsession and politics of patronage in Africa.

A once shining example of emerging democracy in Africa 'was' South Africa but this is colapsing fast and very soon things will fall apart. It takes a lot of sacrifice to build an economy and one fool and a bandwagon of patrons to destroy it.

The concept of Black Empowerment Equity is soon going to destroy South Africa and create a new breed of super rich selfish Africans who cannot even spare a cent to help their fellow rural kin in the slums of Soweto. The same rich Africans are buying shares in every company and at the end of the day this does not address the issue of equitable distribution of wealth.

America was right that Socialist and Communist ideas were to be nipped in the bud. In real sense no democracy can exist in a Communist setup.

All communists are hypocrites and they love Capitalism behind the scenes. Most African politicians were educated abroad Europe and America and benefited through Common Wealth grants, yet today they say these nations are devil states that want to recolonise Africa.

The record should be set straight that the Western States and America are actually helping Africa more than the Communist. Many African leaders are not willing to accept change and most importantly peace.

If one looks at the Sudan issue, you realise that is are a group of morons who cannot accept a simple fact of life that human life is more important than any other thing on earth. Why would anyone in all their senses refuse a UN peace keeping mission saying they want the peace keepers to be made up of an all African contingent? This shows that the Sudan leaders clearly know that their African counterparts would support them to stay in power and continue butchering innocent soles.

African leaders are a team and they will always support each other, they have the same goal, to rule forever.

Recently in Zimbabwe some politicians had their children deported from Australia and they were ranting, let us face the real facts here, if Zimbabwe is such a good country, why do politicians send their children to Australia? This proves my point that Communists are hypocrites.

Managing Migrants

‘I have decided to make it the illegal way and normalize the process later’ This is what a good friend of mine that told me before he left to a faraway country, a land of milk and honey.

Five years latter it has worked for him despite him being a failure academically. He is now economically better than me above all.

Have you ever noticed that daring illegal immigrants end up getting the good deal after all.

In the developing countries and especially Africa, many people leave their countries of origin to Europe, USA and all over to get better opportunities. To some extend this reflects on the issue of over developing and ignoring the other face of humanity.

Many recipient countries have problems with illegal immigrants, as most of these people who flee their countries of origin  in most cases do not contribute meaningfully to the economy of the recipient country when they are integrated into those societies. This to some extent is due to the fact that some will be uneducated and some criminals.

There are my ways in which this problem can be addressed. A best example of well-managed immigration is Australia in which people who can contribute meaningfully to the economy are encouraged to emigrate and then eventually granted citizenship. The crime level is still low in this country due to this well managed system.

In Africa a typical example of a badly managed system is South Africa in which the government fails to tap the vast talent in neighboring country that have their economies crumpling. As a result of this a lot of criminals cross the boarders illegally, and since they are social failures in their countries of origin, they simple continue with crime in South Africa rather than looking for employment.

No matter how governments try to fight illegal immigrants, these ‘illegals’ end up getting citizenship anyway. In the long run these criminals build their criminal empires and multiply criminal activities. This is a social and economic disadvantage that could be solved at grass route level if immigration authorities have proper foresight.

The United Kingdom experienced this type problem where a lot of illegal immigrants especially from Zimbabwe were flying into UK and settling as refugees. One has to ask a simple question of how an illegal immigrant manages to cross oceans say from Zimbabwe to UK to claim 'Economic Refugee Status'

Common sense dictates that the first priority of anyone in economic problems is food but it baffles me how such a person manages to get enough money to pay for airfare across the Atlantic to a faraway country.

To cut a long story short, the UK Authorities quickly realized this and introduced stringent VISA conditions to Zimbabweans to curb the mass exodus. If this country had started managing immigration at an early stage, they would have taken the cream and left the junk that gives problems now.

Just like sunshine in winter, it is only for a short period and South Africa is one African country fooling itself in the middle of a crisis. Most qualified citizens are leaving the country to Australia, America, Canada you name it and the South African Authorities are busy laughing at their northern neighbor instead of tapping the quality labor.

It does not take a lot of experts to cripple a good economy; it only needs a few misguided politicians to take wrong policies and lack of foresight. In this case the mismanagement of migrants and failure to accept a serious problem like this shows that South Africa is just going the wrong way. Time is only going to tell.
